Manager of Scene Stirling, Kevin Harrison said: “This year’s theme is unlearning. We’re looking for projects that challenge, reshape and start conversations around issues such as climate change,  equality, diversity, inclusion and place-making.

“The micro and open grants are designed to mobilise and enable our creative communities to achieve positive change.

“They’re about establishing a sustainable infrastructure to support and bring together our creative communities within rural and city areas; and developing pathways for growth and creative business development.”

To mark the UN’s climate change summit COP26, which is set to be held in Glasgow in November 2021, there will also five climate change commissions available.

Kevin added: “This is an idea that came directly from artists who have participated in our Pathways conversation events, who asked us to support more opportunities for artists to work creatively together. We’re looking for ideas rather than finished proposals for the climate change commissions, as the five artists selected to be part of the cohort will work together to create a collaborative programme. At this stage we’d just like an overview of what you would bring to the table, your previous experience, your understanding of the relationship between climate change and the arts, and most of all your motivation to apply to be part of the project.”

Scene Stirling is a collaborative initiative by the city’s arts and cultural partners, and is funded by Creative Scotland and Stirling Council. For further information and to apply for the grants and commissions click here.
