Unlearning Micro Grants (rolling deadline)

Applications are now open for the Scene Stirling Unlearning Micro Grants, which will be delivered on a rolling basis as long as funds will be available, with a minimum of 8 grants awarded.

In Year 3, Scene Stirling is again running two open project opportunities. This is to ensure flexibility so that artists can get resources quickly if needed (Micro Grants) and to also encourage collaboration and partnership with larger projects and proposals (Open Grants).

This year’s theme is Unlearning, to be interpreted in a broad sense as a way to start conversations, challenge, and reshape the approach to issues such as: Climate Change and Environmental Awareness, Equality, Diversity and Inclusion, and Place-making. Your applications will need to outline how your proposal relates to or explores one or more of these areas.

We have an ongoing and rolling programme (until funds are available) of Unlearning Microgrants and a defined application deadline of Unlearning Open Grants:

  1. Unlearning Microgrants (from May 2021) will be for projects of £750 or under with a minimum of 8 grants available. The grants will be complemented by self-led learning resources to build digital and visibility capacity and skills.

  2. Unlearning Open Grants (from May 2021) will be for projects of up to £1500 with up to 6 grants available (deadline for applications 31st July 2021). In addition to the grants, successful candidates will have access to dedicated sessions on building digital and PR skills to present and promote their work more effectively.

Your project will need to clearly address one or more of the following aims:

  • Position, mobilise and enable our creative communities to achieve positive change.

  • Establish a sustainable infrastructure to support and bring together our creative communities within rural and city areas.

  • Develop pathways for growth and [creative] business development

You will need to ensure that you have checked for any other relevant funding avenues before applying, we may be able to help you take an idea and match it to one of the defined commission opportunities or match you to other artists and creatives in your area, or one of the Stirling Place Partners. Applicants can only be awarded either a Micro Grant or an Open Grant. Please do discuss with us before applying if unsure what opportunity would be most suitable for your project; you can email us at hello@scenestirling.com
