SCENE STIRLING SYMPOSIUM
A special symposium will be held at the Tolbooth next week celebrating the work of the city’s place partnership, Scene Stirling.
Hosted by Stirling Makar Laura Fyfe, the artist-led event will take place on Tuesday 20 June from 10am-2pm.
The city’s arts, culture and heritage partners will be joined on the day by eight of the 50 artists and creatives who have been funded through Scene Stirling’s series of grants and commissions: from Constant Follower frontman, Stephen McAll and filmmaker Omar Aborida to aerial artist Hannah Uttley and ceramicist Rebecca Wilson.
Scene Stirling Manager Kevin Harrison said: “The symposium marks the end of a successful three years, which have seen the partnership support and engage with over 100 local artists, organisations and community groups thanks to funding from Stirling Council and Creative Scotland.”
Over the past three years Scene Stirling has run and supported several projects to further Stirling’s arts and cultural ambitions, from establishing rural creative networks to a bid for UK City of Culture 2025.
Kevin added: “Despite missing out on the title, Stirling’s artists, communities and creative partners have channelled that desire and ambition into creating a new Cultural Strategy for city which will be unveiled at the symposium.
“There’ll also be a series of roundtable discussions looking at collaboration, resilience, access and equity as we plan Stirling’s cultural future together.”
