Stirling Photography Festival may be online this year, but there’s still plenty to inspire you to pick up your camera and get involved as Festival volunteer Nadia Schneider explains:

Over the past 3 years, our small team of volunteers (pictured left) has worked hard to create a festival that inspires, educates and re-connects our community.

Like many in the creative sector, our plans for this year were drastically shaken by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Now, more than ever, we need to come together and support each other.

Our theme for 2020, Our World, which was chosen pre-lockdown, has proven to be very apt.

In a time of isolation and restricted physical contact, when community is more important than ever, we hope that the theme will allow diversity and optimism to shine through and can’t wait to see the results!

This year we’re running our photography competition in collaboration with Kodak and Gulabi, a film developing and scanning lab located in Glasgow.

Photographic submissions should be uploaded here by Saturday 12 September and entries will be exhibited online, as well in a formal exhibition in collaboration with The Barracks.

Our normal line-up of community events and gatherings may have been cancelled, but the essence of the festival remains the same.

We’re running a series of Instagram-Takeovers this month, where we invite artists to speak about their profession and projects.

As always, our events are free and open to all, and attendees can interact with speakers by sending in questions and comments. Join in the conversation on Instagram.

We’re always looking for more people to get involved in our festival and you can find out more information on our website: www.stirlingphotographyfestival.co.uk
