NEW EXHIBITION UNVEILED AT REUSE HUB

The exhibition captures the Reuse Hub’s efforts to help people and planet.

A groundbreaking new exhibition, titled 'More than a Sofa,' will be launched at Stirling Reuse Hub on Wednesday (5 July).

The innovative showcase, created by renowned photographer Duncan Caratacus Clark and acclaimed author Sandy Winterbottom, captures the essence of the local community's efforts to protect the planet and foster a thriving community.

'More than a Sofa' features a compelling collection of photographs and accompanying short stories that illuminate the positive impact individuals in Stirling are making to safeguard the environment and support their community.

Through captivating visuals and narratives, the exhibition offers a glimpse into the motivations that drive these transformative lives. From local artists finding beauty in discarded items to dedicated staff testing electronics and sorting through mountains of clothing to extend their life span; each story serves as a testament to the tremendous contributions being made.

Sandy Winterbottom said: "With a background in environmental sciences, I understand the imperative need for us to tread more lightly on our planet. Every consumption choice we make has an impact somewhere. It is an absolute privilege to be involved in an exhibition that is so close to my heart, and I hope that those who come to see it will truly appreciate the incredible value of what our community is accomplishing."

The stunning photographs displayed in the exhibition are the work of the highly talented Duncan Caratacus Clark. His keen eye for detail and artistic vision bring the stories to life, capturing the essence of each subject.

'More than a Sofa' promises to be an inspiring and thought-provoking exhibition that highlights the transformative power of sustainable practices within the Stirling community. Visitors will be encouraged to contemplate their own role in protecting the environment and supporting local initiatives.

Kate Hamilton, Stirling Reuse Hub Project Manager, emphasized the significance of reusing items, stating, "When we choose to reuse, we create meaningful opportunities for our community to come together and effect positive change on both the planet and one another."

The exhibition has been made possible through the generous support of Scene Stirling. The place partnership provided £500 to cover the printing costs, enabling the presentation of 'More than a Sofa' to the public.

Reflecting on Scene Stirling's involvement, Kevin Harrison said: “We are thrilled to support the 'More than a Sofa' exhibition at the Stirling Reuse Hub. This project beautifully showcases the importance of sustainability and community engagement. We believe in the power of initiatives like this to create lasting positive change."
