CORNTON ‘STREET PARTY’ CELEBRATION TO MARK CHANGING SEASONS
Stirling’s Remembering Together project is set to host a celebration of community, creativity and the changing seasons on Thursday 2 May in the heart of Cornton.
The Beltane-inspired event, organised in collaboration with Scene Stirling and local community organisations including the library and nursery, will run from 2-5pm on Johnston Avenue.
The project’s lead artist Saffy Setohy said: “Beltane, or May Day, holds deep significance in Celtic tradition, marking the blossoming of nature and the promise of renewal.
“In the spirit of this ancient celebration, Remembering Together Stirling aims to bring the local community together for a fun filled 'street party' style event filled with creativity and camaraderie.
“The festivities will extend along Johnston Avenue, with stalls showcasing local organisations, decorations created by the local school children during creative sessions in the library in the run up to the event and tasty treats including wood-fired pizza.”
Attendees of all ages are welcome to take part in a variety of free drop-in activities on the day; from hands-on printing and photography workshops led by local artists Joanne Boyle and Lorna Swinney to captivating storytelling sessions with folklore and herbal expert Amanda Edmiston.
There will also be a live showcase of local talent, featuring a dance piece created by Cornton Nursery with support from Saffy and fellow performance artists Grace Turner and Evie Waddell.
Sandra Scobbie from Cornton Nursery explained: “We’re delighted to have been invited to participate in this community celebration.
“You won’t want to miss the heartwarming dance performance by our nursery children and staff.”
