SECOND ROUND OF COMMUNITY JUSTICE GRANTS ANNOUNCED

A new series of Community Justice Grants has just been launched after a successful first round.

Scene Stirling has announced a second round of Community Justice Grants in partnership with Stirling Community Justice Partnership.

Four grants of up to £500 are available, with applications open until Sunday 19 March. The grant scheme is supported by Stirling Council.

The announcement follows a successful first round of Community Justice awards in November 2022, including funding for a local aerial dance tutor to undertake trauma informed practice training.

Aerial dance artist Hannah Uttley said: “Thanks to the funding I’ve not only been able to attend a specialist training course in London, but also to cascade that learning to other community-based dance artists.

"Sharing what I learned through a workshop highlighting the importance of taking a trauma-informed approach.”

Participants of the trauma-informed movement workshop, which was funded by a Community Justice Grant.

Other projects to receive funding in the last round included a series of metal workshops for families touched by the criminal justice and upcycling workshops for victims of crime.

Kevin Harrison, Manager of Scene Stirling said: “Community justice is where people who have broken the law are held to account and supported to reconnect and contribute to their communities.

“We’re looking to fund more projects this spring which enable artists and creatives to bring about positive change in their communities by working directly with people with experience of the criminal justice system and their families, as well as witnesses and victims.”
