The centre of Cornton buzzed with excitement on Thursday 2 May as members of the community gathered for a street party celebration organised by Scene Stirling and local partners.

Residents of all ages gathered on Johnston Avenue to enjoy a fun filled afternoon in the sunshine, enjoying everything from live dance and song performances to free creative activities, storytelling sessions, face painting and tasty treats.

Reflecting on the occasion, Kevin Harrison of Scene Stirling said, "Hosting this event has been a real highlight of our year-long Covid memorial programme, Remembering Together.

“Witnessing our community partners, from the school and nursery to library and local businesses, unite to celebrate Stirling's Covid recovery and rejuvenation was incredibly heartwarming."

He added: "Watching the local children lead the street party with music, dance and pure joy on their faces was nothing short of magical.

“It's a testament to how artists and communities can collaborate to mark Covid in a way that resonates with our local experiences and resilience."

The festivities embraced the spirit of Beltane, a Celtic tradition symbolising nature's renewal and the promise of brighter days ahead.

Cornton nursery children and staff took part in a special dance showcase choreographed with performance artists Saffy Setohy, Evie Waddell and Grace Turner.

Sandra Scobbie from Cornton Nursery said: "What a wonderful day of coming together at the Cornton Spring Street Party.

“The collaboration, with some of the nursery children to perform alongside Saffy, Grace & Evie, proved to be a thoroughly enjoyable and engaging experience.

“It was great to see the children's confidence grow from the introductory session to actual performance. On the day it was a delight to see so many people come out to support the event. The atmosphere was vibrant and joyful embracing the whole ethos of the Remembering Together Project: ‘Community & Creativity’.

“I hope that this event will provide inspiration for future intergenerational projects benefiting all who live here. Thank you for giving Cornton an opportunity to shine."
