CAPTURING FORTH VALLEY’S CLIMATE STORIES

Tell your climate story creatively with charity Forth Environment Link.

Local charity Forth Environment Link is hosting a creative competition to capture Forth Valley's inspiring climate stories, supported by the Scottish Government’s Climate Challenge Fund.

The ‘A Green Start’ contest is being held to mark Scotland’s Year of Storytelling, as well as to celebrate the charity’s climate work across the region.

Climate Food Project Officer Stephanie Stapleton-Barnes said: “Inspired by creative responses to COP26 such as Stitches for Survival, which saw knitters, crocheters and stitchers come together to create 1.5km of climate messages, and our amazing local community climate champions, we wanted to create an opportunity to tell the region’s climate stories imaginatively.

“No story is too small – it can be personal to you or something to inspire others to lead low carbon lifestyles.

“We’re looking forward to seeing you get creative with your storytelling, from words, drawings and film to photos, poetry and sculpture.”

She added: “We can only accept photos or videos of your entry, so please bear that in mind when you are busy creating. These will be showcased in an online exhibition, once the winners have been announced.”

The competition also marks the completion of the charity’s two-year Climate Kitchen Garden project, which saw Forth Environment Link run 146 workshops on cooking and growing; as well as provide 359 Veg Your Ledge boxes to local people and organisations. Saving the equivalent of 344 tonnes of CO2.
